Honey-Pot Hill Orchards

How many times have I said already that I love fall?

And apple picking?

Yesterday Tim & I took a scenic drive out to Stow so we could go apple picking at Honey-Pot Hill Orchards.  What a perfect fall day for one of my favorite fall festivities.  It was just cool enough when we got there that we got to wear sweatshirts, and it warmed up right as we were finishing up.  So not too hot or too cold for the time we were actually picking!

Plus, it was beautiful out.

We filled a medium sized bag full of Macintosh, Empire, Spartan, and Cortland apples.

All these for only $15!

“I love apple picking because I get to act like I’m 10 again.”

Tim was the one that said that, but maybe I should have?

My favorite part of apple picking is finding the little baby apples!

Ultimate Dork

And thinking about all the apple flavored meals and baked goods I’m gonna make this week.  This trip was perfect timing because I’m entertaining twice this week.

After we filled our bag, we headed over to the Honey-Pot Hill Orchards store.  They had all sorts of goodies in there including pears, fresh pressed cider, squash, fudge, honey, pumpkin butter, cider donuts, caramel apples, apple pie, pumpkin pie, soft serve, and more.

We decided to each get a cider donut (with sugar, obviously), an individual sized cider to have with our treats, and we each got more cider to bring home.  I also bought a jar of pumpkin butter.  Can’t wait to try it.

The donut/cider combo was SO GOOD.

I mean, you just have to eat at least ONE cider donut per fall season.  Right?  How can you really turn this down?

It was a perfect day!

Question(s) of the Day:

  • Have you gone apple picking this season?
  • What’s your favorite thing to cook/bake with apples?
  • What’s your idea of the perfect fall day?

Have a great week, everyone!

  1. I have been thinking of cider donuts from Honeypot all fall. Clearly I’m not going to get any down here in Florida. Honeypot’s my favorite orchard! So jealous.

  2. You had the perfect weather! My favorite fall day is driving through foliage in the mountains or near the water.
I love to make applesauce and apple crisp – yum!

  3. I’m so jealous! I went to Russell Orchards two weekends ago and all the MacIntosh apples were gone. Which means, I didn’t get to bake my favorite apple dessert… Apple Pie! 😦
Oh well, the two bottles of apple wine I bought more than made up for the loss 🙂
    Gotta love Fall!!!

  6. There is nothing that says Fall like a nice warm apple pie. I have found a great way to make this all time favorite even better. Personal peices of pie:) All you do is make your pie as normal but instead of it getting put into a pan to bake you simply put the shell and stuffing into a cupcake pan. Only 6 are allowed at a time for spill over. This way there is no cutting and everyone gets just the right size/hand held peice of apple pie:) Or any other treat you don’t want to spend time cutting!

  7. Thank you for your post, I was sad that my family was not able to make it to the apple orchard this year. Instead I ended up buying one of the bags and using that to do some baking. This years apple treat was apple /oatmeal cookies..I think they would have done better if I put in some walnuts though. Either way they were a good treat to add to the pile of recipies:)
