Things I’m Loving Lately: February 2013 Edition

How’s everyone’s Thursday going?  I had another busy day at work today, but I started the day off right by teaching my 6am class.  I probably sound like a broken record with this, but I just love that class and everyone in it.  The dedication is just contagious!  I taught another Best Body Bootcamp workout, and this one had a lower body focus that left me sweaty and shaky.

Speaking of Best Body Bootcamp, Tina (the mastermind behind BBB) started a new series on her blog called “Bootcamper of the Week.”  And guess who was featured as this week’s bootcamper?!  That’s right!  Make sure to click on over and check it out.  I had a lot of fun sharing my story there.  Thanks for featuring me, Tina!

I wanted to wrap up my February blog posts by sharing some things I’ve been loving this month.  Here goes!

Favorite Things

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds
I would say I shop at Trader Joe’s about once a month.  I absolutely love it there, but I can’t shop there weekly because there are just too many random “cool looking foods” that I would walk out of the store with and end up spending more money than really necessary.  The main things I buy at Trader Joe’s are almond butter, quinoa, Luna/Clif bars, and a few other staples.  One of my favorite treats to get there; however, are these dark chocolate almond bites.  Tim stopped by Trader Joe’s recently to pick up some quinoa for us, and he brought these home.  Way to my heart, boyfriend, way to my heart.

My New Soda Stream
More props for Tim!  For Valentine’s Day, he bought me a Soda Stream.  First of all, I am just so psyched to have seltzer at my disposal at any moment I want it.  Second of all, have you guys ever used one of these before?  It makes the most hilarious duck-like quacking sound to let you know the water has carbonated.  I giggle like a little kid every single time it quacks.  I love this thing!

Sunday Food Prep
I’ve always been pretty good about prepping food ahead of time, but this month I have totally been rocking my Sunday food preparation.  And I must say, it’s really helping with my time management.  It does take an hour or two on Sunday nights, but it’s so worth it to have those extra hours of downtime during the week.

This Workout Playlist
These jams have proooooobably been overplayed for a few too many weeks in my classes now, but I really just love this playlist.  I did a home workout the other week, and my warmup was literally dancing around my house to the New Kids song.  For all 3 minutes and 17 seconds.  Tim barely even had a reaction.  Whatever.  Y class members, I promise to switch up my music next week.  I swear.  Maybe.

New Contacts
A little random, but at the beginning of the year my eye doctor (my Uncle Chris!) switched up my contacts.  I used to have a prescription that required me to wear my contacts for 2-3 weeks at a time, and I found that my eyes were always dry, irritated, or I’d have some random awkward eye ailment happen to me.  Now I’m wearing these dailies (1-Day Acuvue Moist), and my eyes can definitely feel the difference.  Or maybe I should say not feel?  No more irritation and eye rubbing, and I get to just throw them away every night!  Amazing.

What things have you been loving lately?

We’re almost at Friday, friends – hang in there!

Things I’m Loving Lately: December 2012/January 2013 Edition

Hello, blog world.  Between having Monday off and knowing I only have a half day on Friday before I leave to visit Jen, this week is flying by.  I’ve got lots to do between now and then, so let’s hop to it.  Time to discuss some things that I’ve been loving lately!

Favorite Things

Keurig + New Coffee Mug

My parents bought me a Keurig for Christmas this year, and I’m not sure how I ever lived without one before?  I love it!  I don’t use it everyday because my company offers free coffee at work, but it’s perfect for days where I’m working at home and on the weekends.  I remember being torn for a while whether to just get a regular ole coffee maker or the Keurig, but I’m so glad I got the Keurig because I would never need to make a whole pot of coffee – it would just go to waste.

Christmas Day: Keurig

And an extra accessory I’ve been loving to go along with the Keurig, my new coffee mug that Tim’s grandmother got me for Christmas.  I needed one of these for my desk at work!

The Biggest Loser

I am seriously obsessed with this season of The Biggest Loser.  Between Jillian being back, the focus on fighting childhood obesity, all the talk about being accountable for your health, and Bob Harper’s Deck of Cards workout… I’m so hooked.  Plus, all the mentioning of worksite wellness is getting me fired up!

Nut Butter on Pancakes

The other day, Jen posted about the pancakes she made with Nutella on top.  Feeling inspired, on Monday I scarfed down a similar plate:  blueberry pancakes with Justin’s chocolate hazelnut butter on top.  And also a dab of the maple syrup from Dakin Farms that Santa put in my stocking.  So so good.

New Old Navy Shirt

Last week, I totally took advantage of Old Navy’s 40% off their active line sale.  It was a little picked over, but I snagged this bright green long-sleeved GoDRY running top.  I love it and wish I grabbed it in other colors because it was seriously $8.  And it has the holes for my thumbs, which I’m a huge fan of.  Next time!

Saranac Blueberry Blonde Ale

New beer discovery!  I ordered one of these Saranac Blueberry Blonde Ales while out to dinner at Amici on Federal Hill this past weekend with Slesh, Bridget, and the guys.  It’s quite possibly a new favorite!

P.S.  I am SO SORE this week… between the two Best Body Bootcamp workouts I’ve done so far this week and teaching Dynamax Bootcamp on Monday night, I’m definitely feeling it.  I’m psyched for a well-deserved rest day today!

Things I’m Loving Lately: October/November 2012 Edition

Hello, friends.  Happy Friday!

I didn’t post a Favorite Things post last month, so I’m combining October & November into one this time around.  Here’s what I can’t get enough of lately…

Pumpkin
Yep, I’m still on my pumpkin kick and I’m not ashamed.  I probably will be right up until Thanksgiving next week (can you believe it’s already Thanksgiving) and then I will turn my back on pumpkin and embrace gingerbread instead.  Pumpkin, how I love you.

New Kitchen Gadgets
Aren’t these S&P shakers a hoot? (bad joke).  I got them from the Portland Candle Co. up in Portsmouth a couple of weekends ago.  I have been on the hunt for the perfect little set for a long time.  Found em, love em!

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
Every Friday Tim and I alternate bringing home something small for each other.  Mainly foodie items, and always under $5.  It’s nice to have a little extra something to look forward to at the end of the week!  By far my favorite thing he’s given me so far is this peanut butter hot chocolate by Archer Farms.  Soooo good!

New Fitness Mantra Shirts
When I went to Mania this weekend, I promised myself I wouldn’t go too crazy with the fitness clothes purchases.  And I think I did okay!  I limited myself to two shirts (and two DVD’s, and gliding discs, and a bender ball).  But still… only two shirts!  These were my winners.  And I still want more.

Fall Table Runner
Snatched this bad boy for $4.99 at Kohl’s last week.  Added just the right touch to our dining room without being overwhelming.  Will finish out the season with it.  I’m a sucker for fall decor.

Daedalus Pinot Noir
You guys get six favorite things this month since I didn’t post this series for October.  Another gem we picked up during our weekend getaway to Portsmouth, this red wine from Daedalus Cellars Company has hit the spot to unwind at night.  We sampled this wine at Attrezi, that awesome kitchen store in Portsmouth I’ve talked about, and walked out of there with two bottles.  Highly recommend if you are into Pinot Noir!

And there you go.  I’m off to a dentist appointment (ew), and then the weekend is so, so close.

What are you all loving lately?  Anything good I can try?

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
