F&F Friday Favorites ~ 1.10.14

TGIF!

Friday Favorites

My favorite link by far from this week is this article on how regular exercise helps you balance work and family. After reading it I posted on my Facebook page that at least once a week, someone tells me they don’t understand how I manage to do so much with my busy schedule, especially make time for fitness. I love that this article talks about exercise as a way to manage a crazy schedule, reduce stress, and promote self-efficacy (the belief that you really CAN do it). If you don’t read anything else today, read that one!

Here are some of my other faves:

Here’s some great advice for bloggers. Worth a read, and it’s a nice reality check.

For my fellow Type A to do list freaks, what do you think? Could you do this?

Some workouts to try: Lindsay’s bodyweight winter circuit workout, Elle’s workout of the week, Gina’s strength and Tabata circuit, Kim’s pushup/plank waterfall, Jen’s countdown intervals, and Monique’s burpee and pushup challenge.

I love, love, love this infographic that Shannon sent me on reasons women should strength train. Hear that, ladies? Lift!

Bench Mats and Weights

How to write a maid of honor speech. I am the maid of honor in my bestie’s wedding this July, and I started thinking about the speech a bit this week after reading this post and hearing such an awesome speech at Cate and Joe’s wedding on New Year’s Eve. Former MOHs, any advice?

Healthy “tuna melt” stuffed peppers <– good lunch idea!

What’s she hears when you say, “I’m fat.” <–Love this read.

Are any of your favorites on this list of the 100 most influential people in health and fitness? Lots of mine are!

On comparison traps: How lean is too lean?

This is somewhat geared toward the holidays, but I think it applies all year-long. If you are someone who struggles with making healthy decisions in social settings, read these 11 nice ways to say “no” to food pushers. And if you ARE the food bully, STOP!

Hilarious: 12 people who should cancel their gym memberships

Ridiculous: Planet Fitness removes squat racks for being “intimidating”

And finally, if a walrus can do it, then so can you. LOVE! Thanks for sharing, Liz.

–Let’s chat–
Do you guys have any favorites to share with me this week? What’s on the weekend agenda?

For me it’s my friend Dawn’s healthy eating party tonight, lifting and grocery shopping tomorrow, helping Slesh with wedding things and then probably going out for drinks tomorrow night, and a catchup/relax day on Sunday.

Whatever you do, enjoy it!

  2. I will definitely be making that tuna melt! Looks phenomenal. It’s funny you wrote about the MOH speech b/c my wife was just watching a video of a MOH rapping her speech with Eminem’s background music. It was quite hilarious.

BTW, I was just on IDEA looking at the Inspiring bloggers and recommended you. Have a great weekend.
